Feel The Burn to Feel good, Say Scientists

Researchers drew their conclusions after studying 11 people, who were asked to take part in two 20-minute long work-outs, one moderately intensive and one highly intensive.

The mood of the participants was measured before, during, immediately after and 20 minutes after each work out.

They found volunteers exhibited no mood improvements after moderate exercise. However, 20 minutes after the end of the strenuous work-out - which got them breathing heavily and their muscles burning - the participants reported feeling more positive.

Nickolas Smith, of Manchester Metropolitan University's department of exercise and sport science, said: "These results have implications for the recommended intensity of exercise required to produce the ‘feel good factor’ often experienced following exercise.

"There are also implications regarding how people new to regular exercise should expect to feel during the exercise itself if they are to experience post-exercise mood benefits."

Psychiatrists believe that mood improves after vigorous exercise - a phenomenon known as the 'runner's high' - because it triggers the release of endorphins. These are a type of neurotransmitter in the brain that help combat pain.

How can mono be prevented?;Infectious Mononucleosis (MONO)

How can mono be prevented? Since mono is spread from individual to person, avoiding close personal contact with infected people and practicing excellent hygienic practices can aid avoid transmission of the virus.

However, because periodic reactivations of the virus infection seem to occur in healthy individuals and simply because several infected people won't have symptoms of the condition, prevention is very challenging. Actually, these individuals are believed to be the primary source of transmission of the virus.

The reality that up to 95% of adults have antibodies to EBV suggests that prevention of the infection is difficult if not impossible. It really is not recognized why some folks develop the symptoms of mono even though others appear to acquire the EBV without having producing symptoms. It can be feasible that a lot of infections happen and produce mild symptoms and are not recognized as mono, while other infections may possibly not produce symptoms at all.

Conclusion Infectious mononucleosis is typically a self-limited, though sometimes prolonged, and frequently uncomfortable illness. Although particular treatment is rarely needed, the possible complications make it crucial that people with this illness be under the care of a physician. Infectious

Mononucleosis (Mono) At A Glance
  • Infectious mononucleosis (mono) is really a contagious illness caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).
  • The infection may be spread by saliva, as well as the incubation period for mono is four to six weeks.
  • Most adults have laboratory evidence (antibodies against the EBV) indicative of a prior infection with EBV and are immune to further infection.
  • The symptoms of mono consist of fever, fatigue, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes.
  • The diagnosis of mono is confirmed by blood tests.
  • Mono can cause liver inflammation (hepatitis) and enlargement of the spleen
  • Individuals who have had MONO can continue to shed virus particles in their saliva in the course of reactivations of the viral infection throughout their lifetime
  • Vigorous contact sports should be avoided within the illness and recovery phase to stop rupture of the spleen . sumber: celebrifis.comhttp://www.celebrifis.com/

What Are The Complications of MONO? ; Infectious Mononucleosis (Mono)

What are the complications of mono?
A frequent, but typically not severe, complication of mono can be a mild inflammation of the liver, or hepatitis. This form of hepatitis is rarely serious or demands treatment. The enlargement of the spleen that occurs with mono makes traumatic rupture of the spleen a probable complication. Swelling of the throat and tonsils can also lead to airway obstruction when severe. Fortunately, the much more severe complications of mono are very rare, and mono is very rarely fatal in healthy men and women. The rare severe complications contain destruction of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia) and inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart (pericarditis), the heart muscle itself (myocarditis), along with the brain (encephalitis).

Mono tends to be more aggressive in patients with abnormal immune systems, such as people with AIDS or those who are taking medications that suppress immune function. The EBV has been associated with some forms of cancers, most generally lymphomas. This occurs most regularly in individuals whose immune systems have been compromised as a result of disease or immune suppressive drugs. EBV infection has also been found to be associated with two kinds of cancer discovered in other cultures -- nasopharyngeal carcinoma (cancer of the pharynx and nose) in southern China and Burkitt's lymphoma of the jaw among youngsters in equatorial Africa. Further, numerous studies have also found that EBV infection is associated with the development of at least one subtype of Hodgkin's illness.

However, since the vast majority of people have been infected with EBV and never develop these types of tumors, EBV infection can not be the sole cause of these cancers. The overwhelming majority of individuals who have had mono recover fully without having any serious complications.

Early inside the course of the mono, blood tests may show an boost in 1 kind of white blood cell (lymphocyte). Some of these increased lymphocytes have an unusual or "atypical" appearance when viewed under a microscope, which suggests mono.
More specific blood tests, such as the monospot and heterophile antibody tests, can confirm the diagnosis of mono. These tests rely on the body's immune system to make measurable antibodies against the EBV. Regrettably, the antibodies could not turn out to be detectable until the second or third weeks of the illness. A blood chemistry test might reveal abnormalities in liver function.
What's the usual course and treatment of mono?

In most
cases of mono, no certain treatment is essential. The illness is normally self-limited and passes much the way other typical viral illnesses resolve. Treatment is directed toward the relief of symptoms. Offered antiviral drugs have no considerable effect on the overall outcome of mono and may actually prolong the course of the illness. Occasionally, Strep throat occurs in conjunction with mono and is greatest treated with penicillin or erythromycin (E-Mycin, Eryc, Ery-Tab, PCE, Pediazole, Ilosone). Ampicillin (Omnipen, Polycillin, Principen) and amoxicillin (Amoxil, Dispermox, Trimox) should be avoided if there is a possibility of mono since up to 90% of patients with mono develop a rash when taking these medications. They may then be inappropriately thought to have an allergy to penicillin. Antiviral medications have not been shown to be of benefit in treating the symptoms of mono.

For
probably the most part, supportive or comfort measures are all that is needed. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be given for fever and any headache or body aches. A sufficient amount of sleep and rest is essential. The throat soreness is worst in the course of the first five to seven days of illness and then subsides over the next seven to 10 days. The swollen, tender lymph nodes usually subside by the third week.

A feeling of fatigue or tiredness
may possibly persist for months following the acute phase of the illness. It really is suggested that patients with mono avoid participation in any contact sports for a minimum of four weeks right after the onset of symptoms to avoid trauma to the enlarged spleen. The enlarged spleen is susceptible to rupture, which can be life threatening. Cortisone medication is occasionally given for the treatment of severely swollen tonsils or throat tissues which threaten to obstruct breathing.

Patients can continue to have virus particles present in their saliva for
as long as 18 months after the initial infection. When symptoms persist for a lot more than six months, the condition is often referred to as "chronic" EBV infection. Even so, laboratory tests generally cannot confirm continued active EBV infection in individuals with "chronic" EBV infection

Infectious Mononucleosis (cont.); What are The Symptoms of Mono?

Infectious Mononucleosis (cont.)
What are the symptoms of mono?

The initial symptoms of mono are

* a general lack of energy or malaise,

* fatigue,

* a loss of appetite, and

* chills.

These initial symptoms can last from
1 to three days just before the more intense symptoms of the illness begin. The a lot more widespread intense symptoms include

* a severe sore throat,

* fever, and

* swollen lymph nodes (glands)
within the neck area.
It's normally the severe sore throat that prompts folks to contact their physician.

What are the signs of mono?
In addition to a fever from 102 F-104 F, the most frequent signs of mono are

* a
extremely reddened throat and tonsils and

* swollen lymph glands
inside the neck.

The tonsils have a whitish coating in
at least one-third of the cases. The spleen (at times referred to as the body's biggest lymph node) is an organ found inside the left upper abdomen underneath the rib cage, which becomes enlarged or swollen in about 50% of patients with mono. An enlarged liver and abnormalities in liver function tests (blood tests) may be detected (see Complications, below). About 5% of patients have a splotchy red rash over the body, which has a comparable appearance to the rash of measles. Early inside the course of illness (over the first couple of days of illness), a temporary swelling (edema) of both upper eyelids may possibly appear.

What exactly is infectious mononucleosis ("mono")?

Infectious Mononucleosis (Mono)
What exactly is infectious mononucleosis ("mono")?

Infectious mononucleosis, "mono," "kissing
disease," and glandular fever are all terms popularly used for the very typical illness caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). EBV is often a member of the herpesvirus family. The characteristic symptoms of infection with EBV consist of fever, fatigue, malaise, and sore throat. The designation "mononucleosis" refers to an enhance in 1 kind of white blood cells (lymphocytes) inside the bloodstream relative to the other blood components as a result of the EBV infection.
What exactly is the cause of mono?

The EBV that causes mono is
found throughout the world. By the time most people reach adulthood, an antibody against EBV can be detected in their blood. Within the U.S., up to 95% of adults 35-40 years of age have antibodies directed against EBV. This means that many people, sometime in their lives, have been infected with EBV. The body's immune program produces antibodies to attack and help destroy invading viruses and bacteria. These distinct antibodies can be detected within the blood of people who have been infected.
While you can find other illnesses falling under the broad classification of mononucleosis that may cause comparable symptoms (cytomegalovirus [CMV] is 1 example) and an boost in blood lymphocytes, the form caused by the EBV is by far the most widespread.

What are the risk
elements for mono?

The EBV can infect any
person. As previously discussed, the majority of individuals have become infected with the virus by the time that they reach adulthood, as well as the majority of these infections create no symptoms or are not recognized as mono. Mono is most often diagnosed in adolescents and young adults, with a peak incidence at 15-17 years of age. Nevertheless, it is also seen in young children. Normally, the illness is much less severe in young kids and could mimic the symptoms of other typical childhood illnesses, which could explain why it's less generally diagnosed or recognized in this younger age group

How is mono transmitted or spread?

Mono is spread by person-to-person contact. Saliva is the primary
method of transmitting mono. Infectious mononucleosis developed its common name of "kissing disease" from this prevalent type of transmission amongst teenagers. A person with mono may also pass the illness by coughing or sneezing, causing tiny droplets of infected saliva and/or mucus to be suspended within the air which could be inhaled by others. Sharing food or beverages from the very same container or utensil can also transfer the virus from 1 individual to one more since contact with infected saliva could result.
Many people have been exposed to the virus as youngsters, and as a result of the exposure, they've developed immunity to the virus. It's of note that many people who are exposed to the EBV do not ever develop mononucleosis. The incubation period for mono, meaning the time from the initial viral infection until the appearance of symptoms, is between four and six weeks. During an infection, a person is likely able to transmit the virus to others for a minimum of several weeks.
Research has shown that, depending on the method used to detect the virus, anywhere from 20%-80% of individuals who have had mononucleosis and have recovered, will continue to secrete the EBV in their saliva for years on account of periodic "reactivations" of the viral infection. Given that healthy people without having symptoms also secrete the virus throughout reactivation episodes throughout their lifetime, isolation of individuals infected with EBV is not essential. It really is at present believed that these healthy folks, who nevertheless secrete EBV particles, are the primary reservoir for transmission of EBV amongst humans.

10 Misconception I Had About SEX Before I Started Having It

aghifaris.blogspot.com

10 Misconception I Had About SEX

Once upon a time, I was a very sheltered girl. Sex was the ultimate taboo - I thought it was dangerous, dirty, and I failed to understand how anyone could derive pleasure from it. In high school, when my friends started engaging in sexy time, their less than positive reviews of their experiences didn’t make sex sound any more appealing. It wasn’t until I got to college, and started meeting more experienced, sex-positive, empowered ladies that I started to cultivate a more positive view of sexuality. And when I finally started having sex with an incredibly sensitive man, I confirmed that a lot of my fear of sex was based on fallacies and lies.

Without further ado, here are some of my most misguided thoughts.

1. Tummy fat is kryptonite for guys.
I used to be absolutely terrified of getting naked in front of a guy. In fact, I actually lost my virginity while wearing a dress. I thought a dude would catch one glance of my layer of chub and totally lose interest. In reality, most guys are not that douchey, and when they’re that close to sticking their goods into your mouth and/or vag, trust - they think you’re the sexiest woman in the world this side of Megan Fox.

2. Small penis = no pleasure.
The average depth of a vagina is 6 inches. The average length of a penis is 5 inches. More than likely, whatever he’s packing is more than sufficient. But even if it’s not, whatever - a finger feels good, and the odds of encountering a penis any smaller than that is highly unlikely.

3. Liking rough sex means you have no self-respect.
I totally bought into the idea that a woman allowing a man to dominate her in bed was letting herself be degraded…and then I actually started playing with dominant/submissive role play, and it is the complete antithesis of degrading. As a consenting adult woman, creating a fantasy world with someone I trust, role play is incredibly empowering.

4. Condoms are uncomfortable.
I knew before I started having sex that I would always expect dude to wear a condom, as hormonal birth control is not an option for me. But I was expecting condoms to be instruments of evil. I mean, who hasn’t heard horror stories of condoms constantly breaking or condoms getting lost somewhere in the vag. But in my experience, condoms get an unnecessarily bad rap. As long as they’re put on properly, and smothered in lube, things should be fine. Sure, you may have to experiment with different ones to find one that is perfect for the guy and for you, but being baby and disease free is worth the extra work.

5. Having sex “too soon” ruins any chance of a relationship.
So…full disclosure - I had sex with a guy less than a week after I first met him. We’re now approaching our one year anniversary. I know a lot of you are side-eyeing me, thinking that my situation is an anomaly, and yes, I’ll acknowledge that there are tons of guys who wouldn’t consider me “girlfriend material”…but they’re clearly misogynistic jerks, so their opinion is very much null, void, and completely irrelevant to any self-respecting woman’s interests. If a guy truly likes you, he will have complete respect for you whether you sleep wi

6. You don’t have to work to have good sex
I thought sex was based solely on chemistry, and if the sex wasn’t immediately mind-blowing, it wasn’t meant to be. However, I’ve learned that’s an incredibly narrow-minded view. Okay, maybe if you encounter a guy who, like, doesn’t know he has to be hard to enter you (yes, this has happened to someone I know), it should be on to the next. Open communication is absolutely essential to have a dynamic, exciting sex life. If you can’t talk to someone about your fantasies or your needs, you really don’t need to be getting intimate with them.

7. Blow jobs are icky
Oh, yes. I was one of those girls. The idea of sticking a penis in my mouth used to elicit a strong hell to the no from me. I was afraid of the taste, of the smell, if I would be good at it, etc. Blow jobs are not rocket science (and a good guy is more than willing to give you constructive feedback to improve your performance). And as long as he showers regularly, you shouldn’t be gagging with disgust while down there.

8. Guys always want sex
I thought I would constantly be in these awkward situations where all I wanted to do was kiss and cuddle while a dude would be dying to go further. And, yes, of course I’ve encountered the douchebag who didn’t want to take no for an answer, but most mature guys value a mutually enjoyable, consensual experience, and if you encounter one who doesn’t, then it’s on to the next.

9. Good sex always ends in orgasm
I think there is far too much emphasis on orgasms. In my experience, orgasms are more like sprinkles on a chocolate frosted chocolate cupcake - a delightful little extra treat, but far from necessary.

10. Sex isn’t fun
Oh my god, sex is awesome. While I wouldn’t call myself a sex addict, my ideal weekend with my boo definitely involves a few rounds of horizontal tango. Three years ago, though? I would have balked at the idea that sex was anything more than an arduous chore, something that I would only do because I didn’t want to be seen as “damaged goods.” And while I would never condone having sex before you’re ready, it’s really important to have a clear perspective of what sex actually is like before you decide to have it or not have it.

The Health Benefits of Red Wine

The Health Benefits of Red Wine..:The Health Benefits of Red Wine

Can wine really improve our health and increase longevity? Scientists are beginning to say "Yes!" Supposing that the theory is true -- which wines give us the most bang for the buck?

Researchers have found that red wines rich in flavonoids are best for our health. Flavonoids are best known for their antioxidant qualities and help the body resist such maladies as allergens, viruses and carcinogens.

Red wines also contain anxioxidants, which help the body resist cancer and cardiovascular disease. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Syrah and Pinot Noir contain the highest concentrations of antioxidants and flavonoids.

Other red wines such as Merlots and red zinfandels contain fewer flavonoids, but more than most white wines. So, the best bet for drinking wine for our health is to stick to the dryer red wines.  Just because wine contains components that are central to good health doesn't give us a free rein to get plastered every night. Don't overdo it -- but adding a glass of wine to your daily diet can definitely make a difference to our health.

Paracelsus, the noted 16th-century Swiss physician wrote, "Wine is a food, a medicine and a poison - it's just a question of dose." As with almost any food or drink, wine consumed in large doses can be a detriment to our health.

Most health officials agree that one or two four-ounce glasses of wine per day can be beneficial to men, while women should limit their consumption to one four ounce serving per day.

Cardiovascular expert, Professor Roger Corder, has spent years studying the evidence of health benefits from red wine. In his new book, "The Wine Diet," he says he is convinced that most of us should include red wine in our every day lifestyle.

Corder discovered what he eventually labeled the "French Paradox." Specifically, he wondered why the French have a lower rate of heart disease despite the fact that their diet was extremely rich in fats. He concentrated his research on the southwest portion of France, where life expectancy seemed to be highest.

Professor Corder discovered that the region produces very tannic local wines, which contain the highest procyanidin (antioxidant) content of any wines, worldwide. This led him to further research on the amazing medical benefits of red wine.

While wine may not be man's ultimate elixir or fountain of youth, it certainly behooves us to consider adding a glass of wine or two to our daily diet - and raise a "toast" to our continued good health.

How to Safely and Legally Boost Muscle Size and Strength

How to Safely and Legally Boost Muscle Size and Strength

Reading the sports news these days, we are constantly bombarded with news of top notch athletes being exposed for using illegal steroids.

Steroid use involves huge costs, legal issues, and above all, potential health problems.  With such risks, you wonder why anyone would be tempted to go this route?

Medical researchers have gained a new understanding of how the human body builds muscle and endurance.  They are developing safe and legal substances which can increase the body's ability to build muscle, without the health risks associated with steroids.

One of the most interesting fields of research surrounds a naturally occurring chemical compound called Nitric Oxide.  Nitric oxide is a vasodilator, which means it helps move oxygen to the muscles when they need it most.  Increased nitric oxide in the blood stream signals the blood vessel walls to relax, which allows more blood to flow to the body's muscles, thus delivering more oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.

Your body naturally increases nitric oxide during workouts, but only a limited amount.  Researchers have determined that by artificially increasing your nitric oxide levels, you can significantly increase oxygen and nutrient flow to the muscles during workouts, and safely spark powerful muscle growth, muscle definition, and strength.

The best way to increase the levels of nitric oxide in the body is through the introduction of "arginines," special amino acids specifically linked to nitric oxide production. One of the most powerful and natural arginine blends is found a product called Force Factor.

The founders of Force Factor met as teammates on the Harvard University Championship Crew Team.  Competitive rowing is one of the most physically demanding sports. The friends decided to look for a supplement that was safe, legal, and affordable that they could use to enhance their size, strength, and endurance.  Unable to find what they were looking for on the market, they set out to develop something from scratch, and the result was Force Factor.  Today, Force Factor is the recognized leader in nitric oxide stimulation and legal, safe muscle, and strength enhancement.

According to the company, Force Factor produces noticeable results by maximizing your muscle gains as you power through your workouts. Within a few weeks, users notice additional muscle definition and strength in size.

Best of all, the company is currently conducting a Web marketing campaign, where new customers can receive a two week supply of the supplement to try for free. While the Force Factor free trial offer is available only on ForceFactor.com, Force Factor brand products are available in GNC stores nationwide.  Both Force Factor and the company's extremely effective fat burner, Ramp Up, may be purchased from your local GNC.  You can pick up both Force Factor products from GNC or order your free trial today.

What Is The Prostate?

What is the prostate?

The prostate gland is about the size of a walnut and is shaped like a doughnut. It sits underneath the bladder and surrounds the top part of the urethra; the tube which urine passes through on its way from the bladder to the penis.

The prostate gland produces a milky, slightly acidic fluid that is secreted into the urethra and helps keep the sperm alive and moving. This fluid from the prostate makes up about half of the fluid that is ejaculated.

Prostate growth

The prostate is found deep within the pelvis and is difficult to examine except through the rectum.

The close location of the prostate around the urethra means that any enlargement of the gland can narrow the outflow from the bladder. If the prostate grows too large, it may slow or even stop the flow of urine.

At puberty, when testosterone levels in boys start to increase, the prostate grows about eight times in size.  It continues to grow, doubling in size between 21 and 50 years and almost doubling again between 50 and 80 years.  The reasons for this ongoing increase are not fully understood.

What is prostate disease?

Prostate disease is a term used to describe several common prostate problems including:

    * Prostatitis -
      inflammation of the prostate gland, sometimes because of infection;
    * Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or Hypertrophy (BPH) -
      non-cancerous enlargement or growth of the prostate gland;
    * Prostate cancer.

Only prostate cancer and the uncommon acute form of bacterial prostatitis (ABP) are considered life-threatening.  However, both inflammation and enlargement of the prostate can be painful and can have a major effect on man’s quality of life.

Prostatitis

Prostatitis is a general term that refers to any inflammation or swelling of the prostate gland. It may or may not be associated with an infection within the prostate gland.

It has been estimated that about one in every six men may experience prostatitis some time during their lives1.  Prostatitis can occur at any age in the male population, but occurs more commonly in the under 50 age group.

Prostatitis is not a life threatening condition but it can be a very painful disorder.
