Nice update for those who want an iMac. Decent bump for the Mac mini too..
I'm sure the MBP will be updated soon and possibly the MB..
Like many others, I'm waiting for something more powerful and expandable than a Mac mini, but not as expensive as a Mac Pro and does not have an integrated LCD like an iMac (I have a 24" Dell already).
Something like:
1.83 Ghz Core Duo 2 (Conroe)
512 gig Ram (4 memory slots)
160Gig 3.5" SATA Drive (and one additonal empty bay)
Dual Layer Superdrive
PCIe Video Card (ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300GT)
1 additional PCI slot
Bluetooth/Airport
in something like a mini-tower case (about 2/3 size of Mac Pro)
Starting about what the iMac starts at ($1199)... With a more loaded one
2.16Ghz, 1Gig Ram, 250Gig HD, better video (say 7600GT) going up to $1599 or so...
Crossing my fingers for the 12th!

I do understand ... very clearly
we do not need to cut corners on things like Helicopters by hanging onto ancient machines like the Sea King Helicopters or as they are known ..."flying coffins"

You still have not answered the question. For what purpose does Canada need a larger military? Who is the threat?
Cheers,
Ahmed

Reset PRAM, apparently that broke CoreDuoTemp sensor because mine is reading 12C, iStatPro is reading 12 C as well, but smcFanControl is reading 72 C. Week 27 MacBook by the way. So my suggestion is, if your MacBook has no issues or you are fine with how it is running right now, DO NOT UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE.

Due to the high bandwidth requirement, it seems Apple needs to negotiate deals with individual carriers to allow such a system to take place.
Great. This means iPhone in the US will probably be carrier-locked forEVER. :( As much as I like OTA updates, I rather have iPhones to be independent from the US carriers first.

This would be nice as long as my iPhone understands what I am saying. When I first got my iPhone 3GS (with iOS 3) I thought the voice recognition was excellent. However, since the update to iOS 4 the phone and I seem to be able to communicate. If I set it to use English (American) and fake an accent then it seems to work OK but not if it is set to English (British). I don't know what Apple did but having this functionality cease to working after an update, and never be fixed (judging by the Apple Support Discussion site, I'm not the only person to have encountered this), gives me cause for concern for future voice functionality.

I really hope they put a graphics card in it (even 64MB) and an 802.11N capable wifi card.
hmm... but shouldn't they wait until 802.11n becomes more than just a draft of a format?
and when is the apple product spree going to end!?!?!?!

I don't believe this movie thing will be of great resolution. Chances are it'll be no worse than 480p. I mean, the TV shows iTunes sells aren't even HD (this is why I use an alternative source) and there's a huge difference between the HD version I get and iTunes'. I hope for the 10+ bucks they're charging us, the resolution gets to be 720p; 1080p would be ridiculous (bad or good).
iPod nano is good but I would like for the full-screen iPod. I got my eyes set on the Meizu M6 Miniplayer. I'm just hoping they update the Meizu to 8GB, etc (chances are unlikely considering it's not even sold to North America) because that price and sturdiness (couple that with the beautiful 2.4inch screen) and you got a competitive Nano-Killer.
No-TOUCH iPOD THIS TUESDAY POR FAVOR!

Battery Exchange Program iBook G4 and PowerBook G4
Apple has determined that certain lithium-ion batteries containing cells manufactured by Sony Corporation of Japan pose a safety risk that may result in overheating under rare circumstances.
The affected batteries were sold worldwide from October 2003 through August 2006 for use with the following notebook computers: 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4.
Apple is voluntarily recalling the affected batteries and has initiated a worldwide exchange program to provide eligible customers with a new replacement battery, free of charge. This program is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and other international safety authorities.
Identifying your battery
Please use the chart below to identify the battery model and serial numbers that apply to your iBook or PowerBook. If the first 5 digits of your batterys 12-digit serial number fall within the noted ranges, please order a replacement battery immediately.

Good, now everyone can shut the hell up and stop bitching about the processor. But still, you all should've just bought the machine a while ago rather than wait until now.
And I swear, if there is any talk about Santa Rosa and when it's going to be in the MacBooks, I'll break some shins.
that reminds me...when is santa rosa gonna show up in the macbooks? lets chart these releases and make an educated guess :p

You're right, a pure HDD may have latency issues. But how about a hybrid one? Seagate XT Hybrid shows some promise in bridging the gap between full mechanical and full flash storage.
As a couple stated on this page and I brought up several pages ago, a HDD based touch is something you won't see, based on the HDs latency and speed issues.

I posted in another post on this website this claim some time ago. Wal-Mart uses loss-leading priced CD sales to draw people into the store. BTW that is directly harmful to other brick and morter stores as well as medium priced online retailers. Are they apologizing for that? Considering that iTunes has been in business for YEARS now, have they somehow lost this "increased consumer traffic benefit" as a result of Apple's (#5 in market) success?
Do they see someting we do not see as to Apple's current or future domination of the movie business?
It seems that since Wal-Mart tends to service the very lowest income class in our culture and many of these folks tend to not have computers, and to the extent they do, tend to not have broadband either, it seems there is a degree of mutual exclusivity of markets.
Therefore it seems Wal-Mart is less concerned about the sales themselves as the "benefits" they receive by the physical customer traffic they get from some people going to Wal-Mart to buy intentionally underpriced product so they will shop for other things while there.
BTW Wal-Mart themselves state this, so it is not speculation.

Ok, good questions and thoughts. Let me explain/expound upon my statement. The bolded part below seems to be what is drawing the most reaction.
without an accurate understanding of who God is and our relationship to him these good works become nothing but acts of vanity and self glorification that serve only to advance pride and promote self-reliance.
I am not speaking about conscious motivation within an individuals actions/behavior, although that could be true as we all know people do at times act out of selfish and prideful intentions. You are not necessarily talking about motivation which is either conscious or unconscious. The objection to this idea of man - and other species, too - being altruistic without a licence from El is highly objectionable itself. Is it that you do not want to allow independent action? Where then is free will? Where are other faiths? Does the giving of alms by Muslims count for nothing, too?

So nothing but small add ons for half a decade? That's still pretty sad.

Fake. Apple "ordered" a company to send all its manuscripts to it?
Companies don't "order" each other around....that wouldn't get very far in the business world.
Obviously they are paying them to do it. I order McDonald's around every time I walk in there and order them to make me a McFlurry. I order Rubio's to make me a 99 cent fish taco. I order myself to shut up now or this could go on for hours:)

We need to get developers to use open standards and flash is not!
Besides flash being a processor hog (bad code especially on the Mac) it is bad for search engines, it is bad for web standards, it is bad for design.
At one time it was the only way to get rich media and non-refresh dynamic content on the web. Now there are much better lower overhead, open, web standards based ways of doing this. Flash should go away!
Apple taking a stand against flash is good. All the internet needs now is a open standard video codec!
What we all need to do is educate / demand that web developers / sited eliminate flash and use open standards.
Personally I do not use sites that require flash for operability - one of my favorite hotel chains "upgraded" their site to a flash based reservation system - it looks great but is slow and un-reliable, - so I stopped staying there and emailed them telling them they lost a customer due to their bad flash based reservation system!
I disagree that people don't care about flash players. Plenty of sites out there use flash extensively and do not offer a non-flash version. Adding adobe flash capability to the iphone would make it that much better in my opinion. Just because apple doesn't want it, doesn't mean it's not useful. I for one believe that apple "sometimes" listens to it's users, and if enough people complain, apple will react. Think apps for the iphone (remember apple's stand, it's an ipod, not a computer), cut/paste and push service. Background apps seem to be the next barrier to be broken, why not flash?
As far as adobe and MS "holding back" web progression, the whole point of flash is that it is a tool that makes highly interactive media sites easier to accomplish.

I'm pretty surprised by coverage of these stories so far.
It's basically
Exploding DELL & APPLE batteries, manufactured by sony.
It really should be
SONY, who can't even build batteries worth a **** anymore let alone anything else, has screwed the pooch for Dell and Apple.
Well Apple certainly got more sensational coverage over their recall. Hence the Apple haters in my life barraging me with BS.
