There are plenty of successful white people as well as plenty of white people just getting by. What is your point? What do you think the reason for these statistics is?
I already said my point multiple times, the numbers are completely disproportionate whether you want to face it or not. And i don't believe for a second that it's because of racism, i think its a crap excuse and it's played out. I don't know what the reason is, that's why i started this thread. To get some input from everyone. You have to admit that the number of blacks committing violent crimes compared to their small population in their countries is a bit baffling. If you want to blame it on "oppression" that hasn't existed for a long time, while many blacks are successful and productive citizens unbothered by "oppression", then go for it, i just don't buy it.

eInk sounds interesting for B&W eBook readers and the like, less so if you want a Video iPod as well, at least at this stage.
The One Laptop Per Child project is using a display that's full color but has a 1-bit mode that uses no or very little power when it's in its 'off mode'. I'm not sure what technology they're using but we do know that Steve Jobs and Nicholas Negroponte have talked last year when Jobs offered OSX for the olpc.
But wind energy is, so one ipod versus piles of books, we could finally stop all this senseless logging.
Good, we can burn those logs for electricity. Carbon net-neutral for a short period of time, unlike coal or oil.
Engadget believes that Apple would also launch electronic book sales via iTunes as well to provide content for this new iPod functionality.
Why would Apple go about doing all this work when Steve Jobs's friend Jeff Bezos has been spending the past several years scanning all of his inventory for the 'Look Inside' feature? And they cover just about every book on Earth. And they've been in the default Safari bookmarks for years. Etc.

Cons...
#1 Movies 640 by 480? No widescreen or animorphic? forget that! I haven't bought a 4x3 movie since 1998
Are you sure they aren't anamorphic? I want to find this out.
Even an anamorphic DVD is still a 4:3 file. It just stretches it out. And Quicktime does support non-square pixels.

I have shared this with some friends, and re-blogged it with attribution at:

I wonder how many other people will try this if they have "buyers remorse" and return an iPad?
Cool gesture on Apple's part.

Well... my girlfriend is ready to kill me, quite literally... when I ordered her nano, I also ordered a second skin for my MacBook... and the second skin has delayed the estimated shipping time - from 3 days up to 1-2 weeks.
I'm so dead... :o
People posting images of their new nanos doesn't help...

I applaud you. I would have done the same until they added the "convert higher bit rate to 128" option to the iPhone. Now, I can have 5200 songs on my iPhone 32GB, which is roughly half my iTunes library, with enough space for app, photos, and video. I see no reason to carry around two devices when one does everything I need, plus all the guilty pleasures of the web.
Try squeezing 26,000 songs on your iPhone. ;)

as u say, wireless drives that are running a whole OS arent too useful yet (based on current tech). but if they're storing data that only needs to be retrieved every so often, itd be well worth it.
For network storage applications it might be useful, but I think you'd really want a hard-drive and a optical drive you could plug-in even if it's a separate part.
Ideally, something like a tablet PC (iPad) that would use NAND-flash for low voltage OS applications and a hard-drive for more robust applications. The optical drive isn't as necessary for loading data (such as ripping DVDs, music, etc.)
The Tablet PC is a nice idea, but until they're small and light they will remain a niche product. I think something akin to Sony's e-book reader, but with some tablet capabilities that can be seamlessly linked into a larger system would make a real change in the market.
The machines are still used as laptop replacements, and frankly they have a different application.

Example: I have a song by Joe Blow, a song by Suzy Suck, and a song where they collaborated.
If I add an artist tag "Joe Blow, Suzy Suck", it's one tag. It's not Joe's tag, and Suzy's tag, and it's also not the same as "Suzy Suck, Joe Blow" ... though, to the user, it should be. A search for Suck and Blow should turn up any song that has both artists in the Artists tag[s].
That was exactly what I expected from this new "Album Artist" tag. but no luck.
Especially important for Genre tags. Many tunes could be classified as several genres, but if I put Joe's tune down as "Blues Rock", it isn't "Blues" and it isn't "Rock".
I use the "grouping" tag for this purpose. I use the "genre" tag for a general genre clasiification, and I just pile the sub genre's, moods and stuff in "grouping". Then I can call them by creating a smart playlist that looks in grouping tag.

It's a shame the scenario played out this way. Joe's Facebook app is brilliantly crafted, easily the best (imperfections and all).
But I'm disappointed that he's thrown his arms up and decided to give up. To me, this is akin to the weak willed who threaten to leave the US when a regime philosophically detestable to them come into power. So you'd rather run away with your tail between your legs than stick around and strong arm your commanders into a compromise?
Hewitt, if Facebook had the cojones to support him, could have been the spark in the room of dynamite Cocoa Touch developers needed to convey to Apple that their review process has got to dematerialize. Or, at the very least, turn the austerity knob down from "11". The Facebook app is high profile and an 800lb gorilla. That's leverage to be used.
But Hewitt has his own agenda, and Zuckerburg's too busy picking his toe cheese to care, apparently.

Great, another store that carries iPad 2 but won't ever have any in stock. LOL.
Unfortunately I think 80% of iPad 2 supply is going to scalpers and resellers, the moment Apple stores get them in stock they sell out and craigslist is then flooded with heavily marked up iPads. It's kind of ridiculous.
On a related note, isn't it a bit weird Apple hasn't announced any sales figures yet? They're usually quick to brag when devices hit a million sales in a short amount of time.

"You've got questions, we've got blank stares."
My local RS doesn't even sell basic electronic components like resistors anymore. Probably not a bad thing since they were ridiculously when compared to vendors like Digikey.

There's no doubt Apple would pull some kind of neat marketing campaign to announce this deal to the world (assuming it goes through). The people questioning the value of that don't understand how iconic The Beatles are.
Heck, even if not a single person downloads a Beatles track from the iTunes store, the fact that they're finally online, the media exposure that will produce (I've already seen several stories on it in the local news) and the fact that it could lead to things liked branded iPods make it worthwhile to promote in a marketing blitz.
I agree with those that say "Come Together" isn't the right choice. "Revolution" would have been great, but as far as I'm concerned, Nike *owns* that track after their incredible use of it in the 80s (and I'm not a Nike fan!).
I could see them being very coy and using a non-mainstream track such as "Tomorrow Never Knows" or something like that...

I finally got through again.
First time, it came back and said both the computer and battery were ineligible. After checking the Pbook's serial number again, I realized I had a digit wrong. Fixed that, and it came through and asked for my address. I then got a confirmation page, and got an email a few minutes later. So keep trying.
For the record:
15 in. Powerbook G4 purchased in June 2005
Battery serial number started with: 3K521

This is getting closer to an iPal - a handheld computer that does it all. That is my next purchase. It needs to be small but with a full screen and real-world-rugged. Will Apple release it this year?

I can't agree with Jobs on this one.
In this era of WTDs (wax-tramsitted diseases), there will be no sharing of my earbuds!
But if the person has a player, Zune or anything, then they also have their OWN earphones :)

Chocolate chip cookie? Those are my favourites! :)
Given that Clear Channel banned 4 Beatles songs in the wake of 9/11, the billboard prognostication by R0bert was slightly amusing.
luv ya bunches! xoxoxo
What did they ban and why?

yeah, and it's way too long to be a proper mobile phone.
I really hope we don't get all excited expecting an apple phone and all it turns out to be is a remote for iChat.

So do a lot of people being a monthly slave to paying bills and SUBSCRIPTIONS to magazines. It's the price of being a consumer. That's how the economy thrives from your pockets. Stealing for free does'nt help the economic machine of your country.

Lets hope they remaster them - the stereo effects on the original versions can be really painful on a pair of headphones.
While it can seem weird by todays standards... I think it's great to be able to critically listen to them as originally recorded to see what fantastic work and pioneers they were in the studio arena.
