According to 9to5Mac (http://www.9to5mac.com/64928/apple-and-verizon-to-deliver-over-the-air-ios-updates-to-verizon-iphone/), Apple is negotiating with Verizon about delivering over-the-air iOS updates starting with iOS 5.An over-the-air update system would allow users to download the iOS update directly to their phone over 3G or Wi-Fi and update their phone to the latest version without connecting to iTunes. Android devices already offer this feature.
Due to the high bandwidth requirement, it seems Apple needs to negotiate deals with individual carriers to allow such a system to take place. We should note that Apple's iOS is partially capable of this functionality already. The Apple TV which is based on iOS 4 offers "over the air" updates with no iTunes syncing required. The Apple TV, however, stores little customer data so backups are not as critical as with iPhone and iPad devices.
Article Link: iOS 5 to Finally Deliver Over-The-Air Updates? (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/05/04/ios-5-to-finally-deliver-over-the-air-updates/) :)
Wouldn't be a bad idea. Even if they just made "patches" so we aren't downloading half a gb of updates every 2 weeks. :(
Blow through your data cap with 650MB downloads for every point update? Not happening until Apple can deliver smaller downloads for updates.
 I'm starting to get the feeling that people are finding that the Verizon iPhone 4 wasn't all they thought it would be. Granted that the voice quality is better; remember you cannot use 3G while on the phone with Verizon and also remember that phones are more like 'personal communicators' these days. Now that Internet caps are being introduced, everyone is going to loose, just as a Predicted. You have more & more apps that rely heavily on cloud based content that need 3G web access. This is why I kept my AT&T grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan for both my iPhone 4 as well as my wife's iPhone 4 & my iPad 2.
On the new iPad, unlimited cell internet is awesome. You can watch movies from anywhere, etc. all without worrying about your bandwidth or throttle limitations. :apple:

I know we've overdosed on speculation recently, but the MacRumors live transcript from the keynote today contained the following line (from Steve I believe):
10:24 am lots more announcements during the next week
best to just wait and see...... They may not be public announcements but announcements made to developers at the conference under NDA.

Because Firefight - Matchmaking IS a competition.
If we're being technical, yes, you are competing to see who can attain the most points. I just meant that you aren't competing DIRECTLY against other high-caliber players, thus lessening the need to be super awesome to have fun.
I admit I am not the biggest fan of Halo multiplayer, not liking the general community that plays.
Well, that is every online game, if we're being honest. Doesn't matter what you play, there are going to be people out there who just want to ruin the experience for others. It sucks, but it is the sad reality of the online world these days. The Halo community, in my opinion, is quite good and friendly, but it doesn't take but a very small group of individuals to ruin it. My only suggestion is to play with as many friends or nice players that you know. I have a handful of real-life friends who play Halo, but I also won't hesitate to add someone who I enjoyed playing with.
I used to play a TON of Rocket Race in Halo 3. It was a crazy fun gametype, but it was also very easy to ruin for everyone, if you were that kind of person. So, I just started adding people to my friends list every chance I got when I had fun playing with people. Pretty soon, I had tons of people online who I could play with. We would fill up the lobby with actual, good players, thus ending any chance of griefing right from the start. I won't touch competitive Matchmaking any more unless I have enough people I know playing to fill up our team. Partly because of jerks, but mostly because it is just more fun when you have a team of people you know, and enjoy playing with.

Seriously, i could care less about the wait...my computer works fine. I am currently using an Apple IIc...it kicks ass. I had to update it a bit to be able to use the internet though. Do you think i would be better to wait for the Santa Rosa platform to get a MBP? or just get the merom on the current.....and please don't say "if you keep waiting, there will always be something new around the corner and you will wait forever."
I still have an Apple IIe somewhere is my house those computers seriously were cool when they were released how many years ago.
And you a right about putting off until the next update, I think most users forget about the "what do I really need?" question and concerntrate on the latest and greatest "next tuesday" release. I'm still using my G4 Mac Mini, it does everything I need but it doesn't have a Merom, Santa Rosa, etc and I am one happy Mac user.

I think the question of fault is moot, if there is a security problem it needs to be fixed, and if it is a simple fix, that happens before any real life security problems occur, then all the better! What I wonder is are macbooks the only macs with the issue, or only intel macs with wireless cards, or all models using a wireless card. -for example would my powerbook g4 be vulnerable.
hmm...

Ok, good questions and thoughts. Let me explain/expound upon my statement. The bolded part below seems to be what is drawing the most reaction.
without an accurate understanding of who God is and our relationship to him these good works become nothing but acts of vanity and self glorification that serve only to advance pride and promote self-reliance.
I am not speaking about conscious motivation within an individuals actions/behavior, although that could be true as we all know people do at times act out of selfish and prideful intentions. You are not necessarily talking about motivation which is either conscious or unconscious. The objection to this idea of man - and other species, too - being altruistic without a licence from El is highly objectionable itself. Is it that you do not want to allow independent action? Where then is free will? Where are other faiths? Does the giving of alms by Muslims count for nothing, too?

So why not fit the Proven iPhone4 cameras in the iPad then?
The cost had been ramped down due to the camera being out virtually a year, so it's all done and dusted and just needed fitting.
Price wise about $5 dollars more.
I can't see any real reason to hold it back apart from a deliberate ploy to fit something bad to give people a strong reason to upgrade to iPad3.
Unless there are negatives in doing so, Price, Weight etc? Why deliberately fit something bad?
Availability?
With the millions of these the iphone takes maybe adding the millions the ipad2 would use is beyond the current capacity of their manufacturers?
Or, if production capacity would have meant to introduce the ipad2 later, they used what was available at the time.
As for $ 5 more, multiply that with the amount of devices they make and it's millions of dollars. In any company a net cost of $ 5 doesn't stay that way. It gets multiplied up to retail.
Deliberate ploy, don't think so. But, since we both don't have any proof..........

Try www.milo.com, that should help you locate one in your area.
Milo helped me find 2 iPads at a Best Buy in my local area. Unfortunately, the site has shown 'sold out' everywhere for the last few days.

If I could replace my iPod classic with a 120GB iPod Touch I would do it in a heartbeat. To me the only think the classic has on the touch is storage size. In every other way the Touch is much better.

However, the suggestion that Blacks can somehow gain equality with Whites just by "getting their act together" is totally fallacious.
Is it that easy? I don't think so. Getting their attitude together might be closer.
If their parents are all about denigrating the "system", or the "man", what hope do Black youth have? None.
You can pretty much be anything you want to be, in today's Western culture. But you have to work for it, like everyone else. There is no free ride, just welfare.
Black roll models are everywhere, for Christ's sake. Just apply yourself.

Curious about WWI. The Germans were attacking our merchant vessels and cruise ships with our citizens on them( now granted they were filled with weapons). The Germans were supposed to let the people abandon ship before they sunk it. They didn't do that with the Lusitania and in other cases I believe. So IMHO, WWI was a justified war.
Civil War I disagree with you as well.
But, my giant WTF goes to the bolded. You really think the Revolutionary War was unnecessary? How else would you have proposed separating from Britain?
WW1 was another silly European power struggle which we were pulled into. It isn't as if there was any nation I would call the "bad guys" in WW1. It was just a stupid squabble over resources and power.
I think you could make a point that the Civil War was necessary if you want to claim that freeing the slaves was the major motivator behind the war. The way things actually turned out I think things could probably been handled better through political discourse. Rather than spending several years ordering people to murder each other, then "freeing" the slaves and promptly changing the laws so that blacks were basically relegated to a slave state after the war any way...
The revolutionary war was necessary if you assume that the USA being its own sovereign nation is a particularly important thing. This is not a belief to which I subscribe, in my eyes the revolutionary war is more an example of an upstart colony being expected to work with its parent nation and deciding that it didn't feel like it (much like an 8 year old child). The motivations behind our separation from the British empire was basically "we don't want to pay taxes, also were miffed about you selling us tea cheaper than we could buy it from smugglers :confused:".
I only support violent intervention when one side in a conflict has made it abundantly clear that murder and destruction is one of their actual goals. Once Hitler decided that exterminating millions of human beings was a reasonable thing to do I believe he was beyond the point of reasoning.
Basically what I'm saying is that I believe that violence should only ever be used in order to stop others from doing violence. In any other situation war shouldn't even be viewed as a viable option.
Of course this isn't how most humans behave or view the world, we claim that we only use war as a "last resort". But really people are willing to engage in war over silly conflicts which could easily be settled peacefully if people could just learn to behave reasonably .
