august stiffs.

A high body count but a distinct lack of energy this month so let's get started...

From the world of 'the wee films' and the 'tellybox' there was the renowned art director and production designer (on such classics as North By Northwest and The Birds) Robert F. Boyle, the teevee and movie actor best known for his role as Herr Engelbert von Smallhausen in Allo Allo! John Louis Mansi and The Day The Earth Stood Still star Patricia Neal.

Plus let's not forget the passing of actor and stuntman (most famous for working on Big Trouble in Little China) Kenny Endoso and George DiCenzo character actor extraordinaire and famous for roles in everything from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Back to the Future, The Ninth Configuration, The Exorcist III and the mental Manson bio-pic Helter-Skelter as well as the German film actor, artist, and musician Bruno Schleinstein.

And from the world of popular beat combos let's not forget the death of the funkadelic guitarist Catfish Collins (above) and the fantastic George David Weiss, composer of such classics as What a Wonderful World, Can't Help Falling in Love and the Cyber-anthem The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

The comic art cum comic and art community lost Spanish sauce pot scribbler Fernando Fernández most famous for his work on Vampirella and his comic adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula for the Spanish edition of Creepy, Japanese puppet designer and animator Kihachirō Kawamoto and Satoshi Kon, the director of the anime classic Perfect Blue.

And lastly (but by no means leastly) in the section reserved for cool outfits and Stuka's it's sad to report the death of Luftwaffe fighter ace Walter Wolfrum.

Till next month....
