K2 2nd Highest Mountain In The World

K2 2nd Highest Mountain In The World:After a busy Asian spring that saw South Korea’s Yoon Sun became the first woman to climb Annapurna summit of all 14 8000 meter peaks, high mountains in the world, and soon after the Spaniard Edurne Pasaban complete the same quest, all seemed quiet on the icy peaks. But now the new drama, which sharply unreported in the mainstream media, plays on K2, the second highest mountain in the world.
Today a group of climbers using the good weather window to reach tomorrow’s summit of K2 and log back in history. Great Austrian mountaineer Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is not only trying to become the third woman to complete the 8000 meters searches, but also the first woman to climb them without supplementary oxygen. If he reaches the top, Ralf Dujmovitz, partner Gelinde and German leadership, all the peaks will rise twice. And finally, Swedish extreme skier Fredrik Ericsson is trying for the summit and then ski all the way down the mountain, a feat never daring to mention the progress attempt.
Last week, in an attempt to summit K2 Gerlinde ended when her party came back because of strong wind. It noted on its website that the conditions of K2 is a very strange this year, wrote: “The track was very different this year: not so much ice, a lot of free soft rock, and … the accumulated snow drifts made it impossible to go quickly.
Three Cook, as well as on the mountain, according to Internet Explorer, that strange things happen on K2. The temperature inside his tent reached 100 degrees and high temperatures cause rock falls and rock fall. Grapefruit sized rock even bent tent Ericsson, leaving a gaping hole. Other climbers report little snow in the lower part of the Abruzzi Spur route, and subjected to ice on the narrow below the top of the pyramid.
Despite these conditions, climbers on K2, using the current window of good weather to go to the top. Most windows K2 weather the past three or four days at the most. The current forecast calls for decent weather over the next few days, with low winds up high. It depends, however, this is the best and probably last attempt for the summit of K2. If the weather turns bad or the wind to eccentrics, the majority of climbers will have to retreat to lower supply, and then wait to see if another window opens. Leave
